I can’t draw or paint. Does that matter in art therapy?
No, it doesn’t matter if you have drawing skill or not in art therapy. Art therapy is about visual expression and creative process to help you see yourself and dynamics in your life in a different way. As your art therapist, I will cater materials and interventions to your needs and skills.
Do I have to make art in counseling with you?
I am an art psychotherapist trained in psychology and art therapy. Using imagery and the creative process are most often a part of each session as a way to explore an issue or dynamic. Depending on the client, however, some sessions may contain mostly image-making time and others may only include a few minutes of imagery with a majority of verbal processing. As a clinician, I am trained, skilled and practiced in both non-verbal and verbal therapy processes.
Can you tell all about me by my pictures?
Art therapy is not fortune telling. The art therapy process gives you meta-verbal ways to communicate your human experience. You are in charge of the communication. As your art therapist, I will help you inquire as to the meaning in each image or creative process. I will guide the process to help you gain insight and create the change you wish to experience in your life.
Do you take insurance?
I do accept insurance payment at this time. You can call your insurance company to find out what they cover and we are also able to help you navigate coverage questions.
