Delaine Due, M.A., ATR-BC

Delaine Due, M.A., ATRMy love of art therapy began in my first art therapy class as an undergrad student at a private art college in Detroit, Michigan. The intensity of the art school experience included the constant critique of visceral around-the-clock work. It became abundantly clear in that first class that this was a discipline in which I could make any image I wanted without critique or “bad grades.” This was a place where my creativity did not have to follow the rules of graphic design, an art gallery showing, a portfolio review or the grading system. This was art freedom and I knew immediately that this was the art discipline that would carry me through.

I searched for an art therapy graduate program that would also cater to my desire for hands-on experience. Theory is vital, so is authentic experience with any discipline. I found a program that pushed me in my personal growth and understanding of art process, product and psychology while also preparing me for solid clinical work with other people.

I am a Board Certified Art Therapist with the American Art Therapy Association and Art Therapy Credentials Board.  I graduated with honors from Sonoma State University with a Masters in Psychology and have been in clinical practice for over 15 years.
